Question by Molly: Are Republicans putting Palin in the line of fire to distract attention from Newt?
I was thinking Newt was too old-too much baggage ect. However I think he may be the Republicans secret weapon. He is smart, experienced, battle tested,and his experience may be a big asset in these tumultuous times.
I think he is top dog right now and his smart political acumen has led him to lay low till the time is right.
Also; all the credit Clinton grabs for the strong 90′s economy =should go to Newt!

Republicans have no control over Palin, she does exactly what she wants, no matter how stupid and contradictory it appears.
Newt is the type of slimey vice president they’d appoint if Palin was nominated. A wink wink sort of guy to convince the money peopel they weren’t serious about Palin.
Nobody is voting for him for president.
He doesn’t even have the pull to win the party, let alone independents.
Libs fear and hate Newt Gingrich…who will be our next President of the United States after he defeats Barry Hussein.

Sure, just like she was put on the ballot to distract from McCain. She is a great distraction. Pleasant to look at and deep as a puddle. Ask Newt how that “Contract with America” worked out. Or that “Moral Majority” vote feels as he was, you know, acquiring that baggage.
They are wiping up the floor with Palin and she thinks she is in heaven. She is lapping it all up and little does she realize they are using her again. But then Fame is her top priority. She needs to tend to the fishing vessel’s her husband owns. I would rather see Palin get in, the Newt the snut.
Republicans are supposed to be moral. This is a man who went after Bill Clinton while he himself was cheating on his wife. That is hypocritical. Can’t they find anyone who is not a hypocrite.
He was the one who changed laws so that Newt Gingrich was able to buy up air ways that were not open for foreigners to buy. There was a limit to how much could be bought. Newt & his buddies changed laws. He took advantage of his position & was paid over a million dollars from Newt. It was said that the money given to him was for a book he wrote.
I doubt if Newt is an smart as you think he is. How often have you thought that a rep. was smart only to find out it is BS. Do any of them know what the word socialist really means? Do any of them understand that in the early 1960′s a college student in Hawaii would not prefer or be able to afford to travel to Africa to have a baby. Anyone who had the money to fly like that back then would not want her baby to be be born there rather than Hawaii. Do they see that accusing Obama of being a Muslim & so connected to Rev. Wright is delusional. Do they really know history? Would Lincoln be a rep. right now? Didn’t the parties change around the 60′s? I know little about history but have had all of that explained to me by an intelligent person. I don’t like history but know they don’t know as much as they claim to know. They take a subject no one cares about & pretend. Ask them about the Constitution.
I disagree. Palin is a moron and that’s why she gets people’s attention. She seriously believed that you could see Russia from the coast of Alaska and expected the voters of the 08 election to believe that she read ALL the newspapers printed in this country. She just didn’t want to admit that the only thing she ever reads is US Weekly. Newt is a wing-nut and that is why he always got attention. I have yet to hear of a Republican getting a ton of attention for anything positive they are doing to make their party not look like a bunch of buffoons.
Clinton grabs the credit for the strong 90s economy because he earned it. He is the one who installed the financial review board that went line by line in the national budget and cut out the waste–something Republicans claim they can get behind. What did Newt Gingrich do in the 90s besides try to get Clinton impeached for something every president has done since this nation’s inception–screw with interns, which has nothing to do with public policy and is something about which most rational people could care less. Clinton had to work his ass off double time to get legislation passed because Gingrich always wanted to hold up progress. Of course, holding up progress is something that Republicans excel at in recent years.
Newt will never pass the smell test for the Republican party. He is everything you indicated but he is not marketable ! The Republicans need someone more flamboyant, someone who will fit the image of a presidential candidate. That someone could be Mitt Romney ! He’s not just a pretty face, but he has some credentials to go with the job . How unique is that !
